Trend Zone #1 – Waffles & Meat in Meat Love

Meat Love_bacon waffles with maple syrup

Waffles, especially their savoury version, are becoming increasingly popular in Warsaw. On Friday afternoon I was flipping through a culinary magazine and saw an article on Meat Love bar and a photograph of waffles with bacon, covered with maple syrup. I have to admit I was intrigued and could not wait to try them.

The next day we arrived at the spot. Meat Love is situated in the basement of one of the tenement houses on Hoża street, right next to W Gruncie Rzeczy, a vegan bar. Great interior, dim lights make it a perfect place to stay for a bit longer. So I’m not surprised they enlarged in recently and are going to create a cocktail bar as well, as I found out from a very nice waitress.

The food is absolutely delicious! Every bite of my candy bacon – waffles with caramelized bacon and maple syrup, was like heaven. I didn’t want it to stop. Łukasz ordered pulled pork sandwich and it was great too. I could only regret my stomach has its capacity limits…

Those who believe in traditional sweet waffles can order waffle with Greek, creamy yoghurt, honey and fruit, however I would really recommend trying something new and extraordinary during your first visit! Other sandwiches you may try are Turkey, Porchetta or Oriental. Basically, everything revolves around MEAT. As the owners say: “We love to eat, we love meat”.

Meat sandwiches go well together with beer. Meat Love serves beer from small, regional breweries, along with cider and wine. Drivers can have great home-made lemonade, ginger drink, coffee or tea.

16-20 PLN (sandwiches, waffles), 10 PLN (beer)

How to get there?

Address: Hoża 62

It is a 5-minute walk from Hoża tram stop on Marszałkowska Street, and 15-minute walk from Metro Centrum. Also, it’s right next to W Gruncie Rzeczy vegan bar.
